The corner by the back door is where wet shoes land, and it is usually the worst-kept square foot in the house. This tower is built for that spot. Six tiers go up instead of out, each shelf 11 inches wide with 7.5 inches of clearance, which covers low-top sneakers, sandals, crocs, slippers and flats. The PP does not rust and does not mold, so a muddy sole is a wipe rather than a problem.

Eleven inches across, seven and a half up
The shelves run wider and taller than the usual narrow rack: 11 inches of width, 7.5 inches between levels. That clearance lets a pair of crocs or a thick-soled slipper sit flat instead of wedging, and keeps the shoes above from resting on the shoes below.

Snow, mud and wet soles
Waterproof PP is the material argument against the wooden and iron racks that rust and mold in exactly this spot. Shoes can go on wet from snow or rain. The rack itself can go outdoors, on a covered porch or against a garage wall, where boots dry off before they come inside.

Two shapes, five minutes
Assembly uses only two kinds of snap-together parts, with no screws and no tools, and it runs about five minutes. It comes apart as easily, which matters at the end of a season: flatten it, store it, build it again when the weather turns back.
Where it lives
A front or back entryway, a living room, a bedroom, a dorm — and a corner in particular, where a tall freestanding tower has two walls behind it. The high load-bearing PP cleans with water and a cloth. Spare tiers take handbags, folded towels or kids toys in the months when the shoe count drops.
